THREE GENERATIONS OF ANDERSONS ON LONG ISLAND.
Anderson Brothers was founded in 1956 by Earl and Roy Anderson. Earl started the company after returning home from service with the Navy Seabees, the Navy's construction battalions, during the Korean War.
In the years that followed, their sons came into the business. Today, the third generation, John Anderson, runs the company, having grown up on the jobsites where his father, grandfather, and great uncle built.
Over seven decades, the Anderson name has become synonymous with quality, integrity, and skill on Long Island. The company built alongside many of the great architects of the era, Norman Jaffe, Paul Rudolph, Richard Meier, Shope Reno Wharton, and others. Those homes stand today as some of the most notable and desired estates on the island.
One of them was the Deane Residence in Kings Point, a 1969 Paul Rudolph design of such geometric complexity that most builders of the era were reluctant to take it on. During long nights in the office working through the details, Rudolph once asked Earl if the design scared him. Earl told him: if Rudolph could draw it, he could build it.
That answer is a matter of record, published years later in Long Island Modernism 1930–1980. It's also the standard the Andersons have built to since.
Many of those homes, we've had the privilege of returning to over the years, both as Andco Contracting and as Anderson Construction Group, which continues the general contracting and construction management side of the family business.
Andco Contracting is a trade company. But the way we approach the work is shaped by three generations of custom home building. We know what it takes to execute a full project, and every job, no matter the scope, is one where that legacy has to be upheld.
